In July 2018, the Federal Trade Commission in the United States, issued a new guideline stating that a diamond is a diamond, irrespective of whether it was produced in a laboratory or in the ground. In fact, they have disallowed the term ‘natural’ for earth mined diamonds as both are considered ‘natural’. This ruling has given a more than favourable welcome to this new stone and is helping to change attitudes, and even legislation.
